Positive business year 2001 – Positive results in 2002 expected

Ad-hoc-announcement

Odeon Film AG, one of Germany’s leading television and film producers, will present its audited business figures 2001 and give an outlook for 2002 on today‘s press confererence and DVFA analyst conference.

Achieving revenues of 44.7 million Euro and total earnings of 50.1 million Euro, we reached an EBIT amounting to 1.7 million Euro. Thus our EBIT increased by 1.4 million Euro – on a comparable basis (without expenses for the Internet business ceased in 2001). For the first time we turned a net profit in 2001 in the amount of 1.2 million Euro. Consequently, our equity rose to 27.1 million Euro. With an equity ratio of 51% the Odeon Group stays on a solid financial footing. With our group’s cash position totalling 8.6 million Euro, we have sufficient financial means and don’t have any bank debts.

For the running year we are carefully optimistic – regarding the difficult market development – though a precise evaluation is rather difficult. Further investments in the development of our Family Entertainment are planned offering high potential for the future. Particularly our animation production of the Kästner works in cooperation with renowned partners will boost our revenues in the film segment in the forthcoming years.

The effects of the break-down of the Kirch Group cannot fully be calculated by now. We expect a further degradation of the market situation – thus we will act defensively. Nonetheless we expect revenues of 49.3 million Euro and total earnings of 50.3 million Euro for the running year. Our EBIT is planned for 0.6 million Euro, our EBT for 0.9 million Euro.
